Meg Long began practicing yoga in 2003 while serving as a US Peace corps volunteer in Kenya, East Africa. Her career in Public Health and yogic path moved in parallel as she utilized the breath, movement, and awareness components of yoga to function in high stress environments while serving high risk populations. In time, Meg was introduced to yogic philosophy and history, shifting into yoga as a lifestyle and mindset. After receiving her Masters of Public Health in 2009, Meg’s colleagues, staff, and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House Charities grew interested in the techniques and strategies she used to manage stress and prioritize self-care. While serving her clients and patients, Meg understood the value and benefits of self awareness to ensure resilience and sustainability in her field. Meg’s multi-decade career in Public Health has been primary direct service based in the areas of:

  • Interpersonal violence
  • Suicide and Mental Health
  • Food and Housing Insecurity
  • Communicable Disease
  • Substance Use Disorders
  • Resiliency and Wellbeing

Meg transitioned to teaching yoga in 2010 after completing a trauma-informed teacher training with a local non-profit who provided yoga to prisons, domestic violence shelters, drug & alcohol rehabilitation centers, and recovery communities. She currently holds a 200hr E-RYT certification through Yoga Alliance and a Level I (220 hr) Kundalini certification through KRI and Yoga Alliance. Additionally, Meg is an Adjunct Associate Professor at New Mexico State University with the Public Health Sciences Department and Honors College. She is also faculty of the Shanti Yoga School’s 200hr vinyasa teacher training.

Meg’s integration of yogic philosophy, posures, breathwork, and meditation with Public Health theories is the foundation of the workshops and presentations she has provided for behavioral health providers, medical providers, public school teachers and administrators, and students of all levels. The success of which initiated the creation of Radiate Wellness LLC.
